Two Weeks to the Election

It’s probably no surprise that I’ll be voting for Obama on the 4th. And it looks like he may actually pull this thing off, though with my worrying nature I’ll believe it if and when it happens. The Democrats are just so skilled at coming so close and then falling short. But if the polls are at all reliable it might just happen. I have friends who keep telling me that, yeah, he’s going to get it, it’s a given. And I hope they’re right, but we shall see…

In any case, whatever your political leanings, get out and vote, and if you’re in California especially vote against that gay marriage ban. I’m rather nervous about that one, and keep hoping the polls are wrong on it. Again, we shall see…

  1. I used to believe that everyone should vote, until I ran for local office. Like a fool I was standing in front of the school where the voting took place and heard people asking why I was there, was it voting day, and who else was running for office. I lost badly to a sweet little old lady, who has no idea what zoning means, thinks you do anything you want with your property and is a serious NRA member.
I now hope only informed people vote, not idiots who cast a vote based on a thirty second commercial, or like a candidate’s hair. The most important thing most people do every two years is vote, and only people who take their job seriously should decide on who will lead us and make critical decisions on our lives.

  2. Here is France, people is mainly pro Obama. 8 years of Republican (Bush family) is enough for us. What will he leaves behind him … ?
War, financial crisis, economical crisis, terrorism … Ike perhaps …? ;-)

It’s time for democrats to follow an other politic for the United States, and by the way, for the relation with Europe.

    Good luck Obama.

  3. Ok as a lifelong Democrat who is pro defense, pro choice, pro guns in your home for protection I agree with Sandra about being sooo close and blowing it!!! and I agree with Paddy as well as I had the chance to be stationed in Europe way back in the day Lol!! ’79 to ’81 americans were very well liked and most thought Americans had a fair sense of things and that we would be there for our friends. I did get pissed when we were picking on the French, how short our thanks goes as we wouldn’t even be a free nation if wasn’t for France’s help what ever the motive. I think Obama’s run is a ground swell from the poor to the upper class and it shows people have had enough of the Rube (Bush) and the Troll (Cheney) and everything in between. Now McCain acting like the really old Grandpa or intolerant elder, getting mean and nasty, the eye rolling, the teeth gritting is this what you want controlling the buttons? Not I !! So I think it is safe to say fore barring a really major gaff Obama will win. As Bob Segar said Turn the Page!! Babs

  4. Hi Babs,

American people still look very strage for us, French …. and very sympatic too. Of course, no one here has forgotten what you’ve done to help to free our nation during WW2.

In fact, we use to describe you as “great children”, witch is very kind.
I lived half a year in Texas when I was eleven (in the 70’s) and these is still a memorable experience for me. To see your way of life helped me today to understand American people.
I would be happy to go back to Houston, where I lived 6 months. Maybe one day.

    Paddy

  5. Paddy I would wait for Bush to get out of office Lol!! Anyway Paddy me for one I do tell where my vote will go He He!! Obama!! I was for Hillary, But! she is out so I have to think about the Courts, Congress, Economy, our children’s future etc. Paddy you should know that you could go and live in California where Sandra lives, go live in Texas, or come live in New York where I live and you will encounter 3 different worlds, 3 different life styles, and 3 different beliefs of the world and politics. Although New York and California are somewhat the same there are differences. We are not hard to figure out as we have one common theme here and that is when America has any problem we all come together for her!! Paddy all I can is sit back and watch the election as America is in trouble at home and see how we as the voters handle it. I think you will see a statement made and a turning of the page for America. Babs
